Opera Singer | Voice Coach | Recording Artist | EFT Practitioner | Yoga Teacher | Kirtan Leader
One of seven children, raised in a small Irish fishing village by a single mother, it’s fair to say that a career in opera wasn’t exactly on my radar, my school not having a music department being the most prominent reason. Yet, at 9 years of age, when a local singing teacher pointed out that I could indeed ‘sing’, it awoke an inner confidence and passion—a passion that led me to work multiple jobs in pubs, shops and even the local convent to pay for my singing lessons and music degrees until singing began to pay the bills.
My resilience, perseverance, ambition and hard work led me to carve out a career in opera on the international stage, with houses such as Zürich Opera House, ROH with the Royal Ballet, Grange Park Opera, and Garsington Opera all happy to put me on their roster.
However, like most artists, and just like you, I have more than one calling. The first is to sing. The second: to help others feel better. As a child I wanted to be a comedian—what!? I loved to make people laugh. But it was more than that. I wanted others to feel safe, connected, confident…happy.
Alongside my singing career, I prioritised my wellbeing with the aim of living a truly well-balanced Iife. I won the inaugural Jane Anne Rothwell Award from Cork Midsummer Festival in Ireland with my project All That Is Sound (a live installation of vocal healing), and the Award for Magnanimity for the Good Vibrations meditation sessions I ran during lockdown. Later, I took home Best Female Performance (Art and Music) for debuting the role of Deirdre in The Morrigan at the Cork Opera House, as well as writing and collaborating on my album Second Moon of Winter, released on Denovali Records. In recent years, I became a certified and accredited EFT practitioner, British Wheel of Yoga teacher, and a Yoga Alliance Kirtan leader. Oh! And I almost forgot to mention—I had two kids.
My life’s experiences alone have given me an innate ability to help others feel heard, understood, and uplifted, and it’s with those tools that I teach others how to navigate challenging periods in their lives, manage anxiety and heal from grief. Needless to say, I use myself as an example of resilience. If I can decide to be an opera singer before I’ve even heard an opera, then you can achieve what you want too!
This coming year, I’ll be leading yoga and sound retreat workshops that teach women how to use their voices, and training yoga teachers in vocal presentation skills and EFT with the British Wheel of Yoga. I’ll continue one-to-one sessions with my clients in EFT, public speaking, singing and yoga and will be singing on stages in various guises.
Now then—what is it that you need? How can I help you to be more productive even when things are challenging? If you feel that you’d like to work with me in a group or one-to-one, please get in touch here.
